Lucknow: In a major policy push, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government approved 10 key proposals during a cabinet meeting held at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday. These include 20% reservation for former Agniveers in UP Police and PAC recruitments, approval of the Urban Green Policy, a new Bed and Breakfast policy, and measures to boost industrial investment. However, the proposal for the ODOP 2.0 policy was rejected.
Key Decisions from the Yogi Cabinet Meeting:
20% Reservation for Former Agniveers in Police Recruitment
The Cabinet approved 20% reservation for ex-Agniveers in recruitments for Civil Police and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). The recruitment rules will be amended accordingly, and age relaxation will also be granted to make the process more accessible for these candidates.
Urban Green Policy Gets Green Signal
To enhance greenery in urban areas, the Urban Green Policy was approved. This policy will promote environmental sustainability, development of green spaces, and improve the quality of life in cities by ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment.

ODOP Scheme Expansion, but ODOP 2.0 Rejected
Under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, the Cabinet approved an increase in project cost up to ₹1.20 lakh and enhancement of the margin money limit. More products will be added under the scheme. However, the proposed ODOP 2.0 policy was rejected.
Tourism Boost Through Bed & Breakfast Policy
The Bed and Breakfast Policy introduced by the Tourism Department was approved. This policy aims to provide better accommodation options to domestic and international tourists. Under the scheme, units can offer 1 to 5 rooms, with a maximum of 12 beds. Tariff will be mutually agreed upon by homestay owners and guests.

Annapurna Bhawans to Replace Ration Shops
To streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS), existing ration shops will be upgraded into Annapurna Bhawans, equipped with storage facilities. Currently, 2,000 such buildings are under construction across the state.

Push for Industrial Investment
The Cabinet approved a Letter of Comfort to one company and subsidy proposals for five others. Notably, Haldiram Snacks received the nod for a ₹662 crore manufacturing unit in Noida. Under the Data Centre Policy 2021, ST Telemedia has been allowed power supply through dual grid lines.
New Universities in Ayodhya and Ghaziabad
The Cabinet sanctioned the establishment of two universities: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ramayana University in Ayodhya and Ajay Kumar Garg University in Ghaziabad. It also approved a revised construction plan for Siddharth University in Siddharthnagar.
Other Major Approvals
The Cabinet approved recommendations under the Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policies of 2017 and 2022. Proposals from departments including MSME, IT, Higher Education, and Urban Development were also cleared. These decisions are expected to accelerate the pace of industrialization, education, urban development, tourism, employment generation, and environmental sustainability in Uttar Pradesh.
With these sweeping reforms, the Yogi government aims to reshape the state’s growth trajectory, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a vibrant, investment-friendly, and sustainable region in the country.
